HALL INFORMATION Arnside WI & Village Hall, Orchard Road, Arnside, Cumbria, LA5 ODP
Please ensure you have read and are familiar with the terms and conditions in the hiring agreement
Gaining Access and Leaving The Keys will be available from the key safe by the front door of the WI. You will need to contact the Booking Secretary during the week prior to your event for the code. The code is changed on a regular basis. Do not leave this to the last minute as you may not be able to gain entrance. The keys must be returned to the key safe on exit and must not be used at any other time than your booked hours. The Key Safe works by pushing down the cover, rotating the dials to the given code and pushing the lever at the left hand side to open the door. To lock the safe, the code must be still be visible on the dials or the door will not close. Replace the key, close the door then the numbers can be randomly rotated again before shutting the cover. If there is a problem gaining access you should ring the Booking Secretary. Please wait until the previous user has left the premises before entering the WI. You will be expected to have vacated the premises no later than 15 minutes after your booked hours. There may be another booking immediately after yours. Please leave the Hall as you would expect to find it.
The Light Switches are located at the left hand side at the back of the hall by the notice board. The Committee room light switch is to the right of the door on the right hand side of the stage.
Fire and Safety Information The WI has a strict no smoking policy. Nor should any other incandescent material be used on the premises. In the event of a fire, alert others in the building by pressing a red fire alarm call box to trigger the alarm. Everyone must vacate the premises immediately in an orderly manner and call 999 for the Fire Brigade, Village Hall address as on the top of this Information Sheet. All Users should congregate in Orchard Crescent (across the road, opposite to the Hall Garden). Fire exits must be kept free from obstacles and not wedged open. They mainly open outwards with a push bar, with the exception of the kitchen door which has a turning handle and the door open inwards.
Please see the plan of the premises for locations of the fire alarm call boxes, extinguishers and fire exits and read carefully the fire details in the Hiring Agreement, the Fire Procedure Notices in the Hall and ensure everyone is aware of this information. The entrance porch has a safety light which cannot be switched off.
Tables and Chairs are located in the Store Room at the side of the main hall. Please stack & replace as found, wiping used tables before putting them in the storeroom.
The Hall Policies File & Maintenance Books are located in the top drawer in the Committee Room. Complete the Maintenance Book and inform the Booking Secretary in respect of any accidents or damage/ faults to fixtures and fittings.
The First Aid Box is located in the kitchen together with the Accident Book which must be completed in the event of any personal accident. Please also notify a member of the Committee of any incidents. Contact numbers can be found on the Health & Safety Notice Board situated in the Entrance Hall. Please do not attach anything to the walls with drawing pins, Sellotape or Blu-Tak.
Wheelchair Access is via the ramp to the front door and a Disabled Toilet is available on the premises.
There are male and female Toilets with hand wash basins in the hall. Please leave them as you would wish to find them.
The Heating is pre-set to come on for your booking. Please do not alter individual radiator settings or interfere with any heating controls.
The Hall has no Telephone so it is advised a mobile phone should be brought in case of accident or emergency.
Access to the Lawn is by the steps to front and side of the terrace. Please do not cross the gardens or allow children to play on them.
Kitchen Facilities The Hall has a full kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, kettles and water boiler. There is sufficient crockery and cutlery for 50 persons. Table linen and kitchen towels are not provided so you will need to bring your own. Please Do Not Use Those Belonging To The Hall.
You may use any items from the kitchen cupboards but NOT from any other cupboards as these belong to the various societies which use the HALL on a regular basis. Please ensure all electrical appliances are switched off before exiting the kitchen and hall. Please leave the kitchen clean and tidy and remember to remove ALL rubbish from the premises.
A limited number of cars may be parked on the car park at the front of the hall. Please do not obstruct the access ramp. Alternatively, parking is on Orchard Road. This is a public highway so please park considerately.
Please Remember To Obtain All Relevant Insurance Or Licences Before Use. Details Are In The Hiring Agreement. Failure To Do This May Result In You Being Liable For The Full Cost Of Any Claims.
On Leaving Late Night Functions Please be considerate to our neighbours when leaving a late event and do so quietly!
